Apologies to James Taylor

"In real life I've gone to Carolina..
Can't you see the sunshine,
Can't you just feel the moonshine,
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
It hits me from behind.
Yes, I've gone to Carolina in real life..."

Elkin, North Carolina, to be exact. For work. Been here since Saturday night ("S--A--T-U-R--D-A-Y...NIGHT" but that's another song...) and I finally get to leave this Saturday morning to go back home to Portland, Oregon. But wait, the fun doesn't stop there...

On Monday, I get to go to Thompson, Georgia ("Georgia...Georgia...the whole night through...just an old sweet song, keeps Georgia on my mind..."). For work.

I can't hardly wait...

So no long, 3-day "Labor Day" weekend for me. Oh well.

Truth be told, it hasn't been that bad. Except that the plant wasn't really ready for us, but wouldn't let us leave when we were supposed to Wednesday because the system wasn't up and running yet, through no fault of ours, and insisted we stay until it was up and running because they said so, even though we have other commitments that need to be kept, but they don't care because they are the customer (at least for the moment) and they felt that they haven't been getting the attention they think they deserve...

Which may or may not be true.

So overall, a fairly typical start-up.

I had meant to post back on Sunday, but I couldn't get my wireless card to link-up with the motel's wireless network.

Anyway, as predicted, it's been hot...but actually not too hot - about 85 or so. A bit humid, but not as bad as it could have been. It rained the last couple of days, which has brought the temps down. Guess they've been having a bit of a drought, so the rain was welcomed by the locals.

So far, no mosquitoes (knock on wood). Guess droughts are good for some things...

So Miss Hcatty, in answer to your question, no, nowhere close to Texas. :-(
At least, not yet. You know I'll let you know if I'm making my way down there. But so far, no plants that I know of are installing our system in Texas.

21 days and counting to TLAPD...ye have been warned...

Dog Days of Summer

"We're having a heat wave...
A tropical heat wave..."

It's supposed to get up to 100°F tomorrow. As tempting as it is to quote Paris Hilton, I'm going to resist...

----

I'm going to take tomorrow off from work. Why?

Why not?

Good of a day as any. Besides, I've been busting my hump lately and I could use it. In a couple of weeks, I get to fly down to the deep South for work. Ah yes - nothing like going to the deep South in the middle of Summer. Hot, humid, mosquitos, hot, mosquitos, hot...did I mention mosquitos?

And hot?

Oh well - someone's got to do it. Other than the heat, humidity, and state birds (mosquitos), it should be fun. At least somewhat.

----

Well, I was trying to think of something else to post, but nothing's coming to mind. That's the trouble with being unmotivated - you're unmotivated.

So this'll have to do for now...
