School Days, School Days, Dear Old Golden Rule Days...

The "unofficial" last weekend of Summer has come...and gone. It's time for "Back-to-School", so keep an eye out for children running across streets to catch their buses - not that they would ever do such a thing (except when they do). They are NOT watching for you, so you must watch for them.

Ah, school...I have (mostly) fond memories of school. Of course, the best part about school was recess and Summer vacation. But I actually liked school. Call me a "geek" or a "nerd", I don't care - I wear those titles with pride. Afterall, it's the "geeks" and the "nerds" who run the world - look at Bill Gates, the biggest "geek"/"nerd" of them all.

Math and science - probably my favorite subjects, though I also liked history. English was probably my least favorite - mainly because I never liked "writting on demand". I really did not like writting papers, even though, quite frankly, I'm actually quite good at it.

These days, most of my writting is in the form of memos or letters for work, often taking on a more "technical" writting style. I often have others come to me to look-over their memos/letters. Guess that makes me a kind of "editor".

Of course, there's also the occasional "blog posting".

My brother-in-law asked me relatively recently if I've ever thought about writting (I let him read one of my college papers [way back when I was actually in college, years {and years, now} ago], and I guess it impressed him). Occasionally I have. But I think my biggest problem to writting is a lack of good ideas of what to write about. If I do, I suppose the best thing would be to start with some short stories. Perhaps from there, I could write longer stories, though I doubt I will ever write the "Great American Novel" (the dream of many, many actual writters).

But, alas, the realities of life (at least for now) are that my work takes-up too much time for me to get around to actually writting anything.

At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it. ;-)
